I have a z97-a motherboard and an i7 4790k. I installed the suite and it says before I'm able to take advantage of 5 way optimization (or to update bios) I need MEI installed. However, It won't let me install it!

Anyone know the work around? I've goggled and been on multiple sites. No one has a solution.

My cd has it as well as intel's website but it won't install. The link you linked me too is just a diag tool. Windows doesn't detect there is a problem with mei. Only that mei is not installed .when I try to use asus software

I get the message that it failed and that my computer does not meet the requirements.

Whether it's the latest driver from Intel's site or off the CD. It simply cannot install mei which is needed to update bios or use their autoclocking software

I have the same mobo and cpu combo and HAD the same problem. On every bootup, I would see the error message. I found this web site with a link to MEI file. It dowmloaded and I installed it. No more problems. Good Luck

Well, after taking the board back to the store for testing after hours on the phone with ASUS, I seem to have solved the problem.

Basically I wiped the boot drive (wrote it with zeros - maybe not necessary). I did a fresh install. Nothing but my boot ssd connected. Before I did ANYTHING, I installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers and then the latest MEI drivers which I had previously downloaded from the ASUS website (hero vii page for my mobo) and put on a usb.

I don't know about these first gen sata dvd-r's... don't trust them. I downloaded everything I could from the ASUS website and used those and I'm lookin pretty good, not an error nor glitch in sight.

I was also told to install the graphics driver last - which I did.

P.S. never updated the bios, if it ain't broke...
