So, yesterday i installed a Windows 7 64bit ultimate edition OS on my computer. And after installing 14.9 amd catalyst, (tried with 14.4 aswell), and i guess the problem is the amd's ahci driver that overwritten the ms ahci driver. After i reboot the system i stuck after the windows logo. I don't know how to get this work, since i cannot boot to windows in IDE mode, but i can boot in safe mode.

My config:

ASRock H97M Pro 4
Intel Core i7 4770
8Gb HyperX Genesis (2x4Gb 1600MhZ)
MSi R7850 2GD5
Hitachi 500Gb SATA2 HDD

I say that i've tried with 14.4, and 14.9 aswell.

More about : boot failure installing amd catalyst

Reload Windows Installation disk, or at the very least a Repair disk.
When updating gpu driver or CCC .net framework, make sure to uninstall drivers then install the new one. :)

If your system works in IDE mode but not in AHCI mode then the following procedure should solve the problem:

1) Run the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
2) Navigate to Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
3) Set the "Start" value to 0 (zero)
4) Navigate to Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide
5) Set the "Start" value to 0 (zero)
6) Shut down
7) Start up again, but before Windows boots go into the BIOS configuration screens and change the disk mode to "AHCI". Save the new BIOS configuration and restart so that Windows boots.

When Windows starts, it will detect the change, load new disk drivers, and do one more reboot to start up with them.

I've tried reinstalling OS, like 3 times now. Also tried another Sata port, but nothing helped yet. ( I'm installing it through USB Flash Drive )

Do you mean you're stuck on windows logo while trying to re-install OS?
Just reminder if you are re-installing OS via usb make sure to connect at USB 2.0 port (better at the back of the motherboard).

Yes I heard that i need to untick it, but it's not even on the list, like There is no option in custom installation to untick AHCI driver, or maybe i'm blind.

What if i try to install the OS in IDE mode, and try everything again. Can i switch back to AHCI later, or it won't help me?

How about disable AHCI in uefi (bios)?

CCC 14.4 thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2121691/amd-driv...

If the clean OS is installed there is no problem, after i Install the CCC, it requires Reboot, and then i Stuck after the boot logo. If i switch from AHCI to IDE, my computer keeps rebooting, (it not even passing windows logo [it freezes then it reboots])

The Solution should be Unticking the AHCI driver, but in custom installation there is no option to do that.

If still not working:

Since new CCC AMD drivers also update their AHCI driver. Try to search these files in the windows/system32/drivers: amdsata.sys" & "amdxata.sys, make a copy and put it somewhere you can remember then delete the original files.. go to bios and enable AHCI.

I'll try it at home, but as i said i installed the os in AHCI mode, and in IDE mode my PC keeps rebooting, i can still get in safe mode and delete those files. I also checked the new files amd_sata.sys and amd_xata.sys (the underscore is the newer) and deleted the olders, but not helped. should i remove all the amd_sata blabla from the drivers folder?

I don't even know why the installer not giving me the ability to select SATA AHCI Driver. My BIOS setting are even on AHCI.

start fresh.. re'install windows but before you do , go into your bios change it to AHCI then install windows fresh install ,, then when your putting your drivers back on unselect that option it should be there like the pics in Abmario's post ... hope this helps :)

What if i remove the amdxata.sys and amdsata.sys files from the system32 directory?

October 13, 2014 6:39:47 AM

if you found amdxata.sys and amdsata.sys these files are from old AHCI.. the new ones are with underscore.. try remove them, it could be the cause...

I tried it yesterday, got the old ones w/o underscore, and copied the new ones to the folder. Deleted the old ones (cuz it didn't overwrote itself) and left the new ones there. Should i delete the new ones aswell?

Why not try uninstall 14.9 Catalyst then re-install the last driver version that works well in your pc?
