Why does Youtube run slow?

Hello everyone, I jut wanted to ask why does it take a long time to load videos. This is normal for me and I just want to know what are some potential causes. I know my internet system isn't up to date so don't know if that's the major cause, or if it's simply because my computer isn't up to loading videos quickly. Ex: it takes about 2 times the time to load the video than it does to watch the video. Again, it's not a big issue, just would like to know the causes and potential ways to improve it. Thanks everyone.

Update the flash player. Clear cache ans cookies. See whether some other app uses your internet or not. Get a faster connection.

Clear your browser cache and flush DNS

Under Windows tab, make sure 'DNS Cache' is enabled. It is under the System category.
Under Applications tab, make sure everything is enabled for the browser you are using.

Then I must have really slow Internet because that's the amount of time it takes to load and view videos at 480p

Sounds like it. Like my internet - only 1500 kbps plus kids on it at the same time.

It says my ping is 63ms(don't know what that means, I'm not very knowledgeable in technology)

That's slow. Speedtest also gives you upload and download speeds. What are they?

Hello guys, sorry for not responding till now. It was 3:23 AM at the time and I needed to get some rest as I needed to get up at 5 AM for work. Anyway, I did the speed test again and my Ping is 13 ms, my download speed is .64 Mbps, and my upload speed is .32 Mbps. I think my internet speed fluctuates throughout the day, so I don't know if it's running any faster/slower than yesterday. Again sorry about any inconvenience and thanks for the help.

Only other device connected with it is my iPod(3rd gen) but I don't use it my iPod often. We used to have our Wii connected as well but we moved it to the garage and our wifi doesn't reach that far.

My family will also be reconnecting the internet to the garage(we had it disable when we first moved here) some time this week(hopefully). Will that affect the speed of Internet in any way?

If you're sharing the internet, that'd be why YouTube is going slow.

You should also do a virus scan - with Avast (free version) and Malwarebytes (free version)
