Hi, i have 2 Samsung 2gb ddr3 1333Mhz/9-9-9-24 1.5v
I have ordered 1 4gb ram ddr3 1333Mhz/9-9-9-24 1.5v

So will it work.?
The new ram will be kingston or other company not samsung , says the shopkeeper.

And is it better to buy 2(2gb sticks) and use all 4 channels or buy 1 4gb stick and use 3 channels?

Whats the advantage and disadvantage of using 3 channels.

might work or might not!there are good chances though since all sticks have the same specs. you have a dual channel capable memory controller with 2 ram slots per channel.! dual channel only works with 2 or 4 slots occupied with sticks of the same capacity! so with single channel config you will lose performance of 5 to 10% the most!

Try not to get too excited...

Ram for this task is usually sold in pairs as its being tested and works
If you buy individual even same brand no guarantees

The performance increase is minimal - Only memory intensive read/writes really benefit
It adds little to No extra FPS 1-3

The biggest benefit for the average user for more Ram it to reduce the Hard Drive caching which slows down overall experience

# Please take Note in order to utilize your New Ram a total of 8 Gigs you Must have a 64bit Operating System installed

If unsure you can check your current O/S
Windows E - Right click Computer (in left pane) - select Properties - Check System Type
OR Control Panel - System and Security - System

Yes i have 64 bit OS.
So right now my 2 rams are working fine.
So if i buy 2 other ram which work fine together. So my current 2rams work in dual channel with each other and new work in dual channel with each other.

Refer Back to Chris987 posts

Adding more ram does not necessarily mean automatically faster speed. the only reason for adding more Ram is because your actually in need of it due to Exceeding the Physical Ram and programs having to use Cache files to slow HDD's.

Having Dual Channel Ram does Not mean that 2 lots of Dual Channel will be any faster

If you have 4 dimm slots on mobo then you probably have dual channel and 2*2gb and2*4gb will work just fine but there will be a small performance impact. Try putting 2gb sticks in slot 1 and 3, then put 4gb ram sticks(2) into slot 2 and 4.
I hope it works for you.
