Hi

I have a gtx 660
and when i play games such as assetto corsa or gta iv or arma 3
its fine until suddenly the sound goes all weird a kinda of "static like" and my pc almost crashes, sometimes it does and i have to restart sometimes it doesnt.

but i just checked event viewer and it said
Application acs.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware.

do you know why this keeps happening? i have ram 16gb 2400mhz, intel core i7 4970k. people keep saying update drivers. intel hd or gtx 660 and i have been, then it starts to work and stops working
idk what to do?and i get these as well "The Intel(R) HD Graphics Control Panel Service service terminated with the following error:
Unspecified error"

and these

Faulting application name: igfxCUIService.exe, version: 6.15.10.3907, time stamp: 0x53e0fb5e

When you update your drivers, do you fully uninstall them first before you re-install them?

Uninstall your Nvidia graphics drivers from the control panel. Then run http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ to get rid of any random files left behind.

Then go to your graphics drivers website and download the latest ones (not the beta ones). Install, restart and try your games again. If the problem persists, then come back here :D

What PSU have you got? And how old is it?

If you have the right drivers, and assuming games were working before the GPU got installed, it must be the GPU itself or the PSU is not powerful enough for that GPU.

Have you tried the version before the current drivers for your graphics card? Some people find this solves issues.

Not much else i can say really my friend. That PSU will be fine to power it.

If the rig works without the GPU, then it must be the GPU that is an issue; unless you've done something drastically wrong with installation/the drivers. Can you try a friends GPU by any chance?

That's what I was thinking but probably not.
I took out my GPU 10 minutes ago but so far its okay.
like idk ill try playing gta iv and see
but my temps were reaching 95 degrees on assetto corsa when i was playing it (at the time it didint happen, but i had to run very low and even still it was very bad quality/laggy.

so unless i buy another gtx 660? i dont really want to spend £460+ on the gtx980 really ;/? idk maybe i can test all my components some how to make sure its nothing else?

95 degrees is way too much for a gaming scenario. Even for a bench mark. It sounds like your card is overheating so you should probably try to clean it. It may be necessary to reapply some thermal paste between the heat sink and the GPU.

Most GPUs have a max temp on 100-105 celsius before they reboot the system as a safety feature.

Do the fans even spin?

Um you're confusing me?
I was talking about my CPU but it was because i took out my GPU and its an incredibly cpu intensive game so it reached them temps
with a gpu i was getting 50-70 i believe.

i took out my gpu because i think it was faulty! if you could help maybe read above!.
my cpu has fine temps also.

I deleted your other thread. This post is not "dead" you should not expect instant replies to questions.

Best thing to do is re-install Windows and the drivers clean. After you install the nVidia card, disable the onboard HD video in Device Manager, and see what happens. If it continues to crash, test the card in another system if you can. You need to rule out where the issue is.
