Hi guys,

I just upgraded to GTX980 strix SLI and in Metro 2033 and Stalker games I get good fps at 1440p but when I pan the camera around it looks like I'm getting 15 fps.

The worst offender being Metro 2033, it's running at 60-68 fps at max lowest of 48fps but moving around objects and panning the camera looks and feels like crap.

I just fired up Metro LL for comparison and it's one of the few games that runs smooth at 80-90fps, but it has random lag spikes which make the game stutter, it's very intermittent. Thought it might be HDD but it's a performance drive and has never given issues.

I never had this problem with my old GTX670. If I set FSAA on it magnifies the problem greatly, it feel like Micro-stutter in Fallout but 10 times worse.

I tried with V-sync on and off, V-sync tends to give me input lag where there is a noticeable latency between moving the camera and it reacting - the same goes for manipulating UI in other games.

I have found increasing the resolution increases input lag significantly in games like AA.

My monitor is a LG-34UM95-P 3440x1440 native res @60hz - could this monitor be causing this stuttering ? or have I simply not go tenough Graphical horsepower to drive this monitor at native res without side effects ?

Both cards report good temps and operate at 99%GPU usage, I'm in the process of running Uniengine benchmarks to see if there's anything wrong there.

Weird monitor.

Anything on the Metro forums about similar problems?

What about with just one gtx980 - OK?

I will do a quick session with SLI disabled and see how it goes, thanks for the suggestion. As for the Metro forums, I have not looked, but this is not an issue isolated to just Metro in my case.

I just ran Uniengine Heaven and got 103fps with a score of 2599 the benchmark ran very smoothly I think I only noticed two micro-stutters in all 26 scenes.

Just an update, I just tried Dishonored at 1440p and with V-sync is was unplayable. Turned it off and it was PERFECT, ran smooth as butter at an unflinching 130fps without even a hiccup, no stutters, nothing totally great. What was really weird though is that the frame rate did not change at all the whole session, like it was capped at 130.

I also did some benchmarks at lower resolution, and at 1080p in heaven gave 5188 score which is supposedly good for no overclocking. So the cards themselves seem to be functioning properly, the drivers and particularly GPU tweak might be causing some of the issues here.

I wonder what it is about V-sync that shits SLI so much and FSAA for that matter. Will do more testing tomorrow.
