Can i safely upgrade the Gpu in my system?

I'd like to upgrade my Gpu, but i'm worried because i don't know much about the components.

Here's the specs.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68M-D2H

Cpu: i7 2600

Psu: Some 80 plus silver 700w psu

I'm wondering if i can upgrade to something like an R9 290 or a Gtx 780 without any bottlenecking or other problems?

I'd like to only upgrade the Gpu and motherboard if necessary.

Most or all of these have usb 3.0 ports at the front,your motherboard doesn't support this so you'll probably need to find an adapter for that,

You'll need to consider the gpu you're going to buy when picking a case,maybe not all can house bigger cards and not all cards are...

I don't think you'll be having any problems upgrading the GPU nor you're going to bottleneck your system. :)

I just want to advise you to uninstall the existing drivers on your PC to avoid any conflicts - head to Control Panel, ‘Uninstall a program’, then find and uninstall your drivers. You can also ‘uninstall’ the Display adapters hardware in Device Manager. Also, ground yourself to discharge any static electricity by simply touch a nearby radiator or a metal part of the case while it’s still plugged in.

Also, I would not advise overclocking if you are going to stick with the stock cpu cooler, 3.4ghz is enough but you could always go for liquid cooling and overclock it quite high.

Just a quick question. Can anybody recommend a decent Micro-atx case?

My current case isn't that good. poor ventilation and no cable management.

my only requirement for the case is that it has 1 or more 5.2 inch drive bay.

N200 looks alright. has the 5.2 inch drive bay and cable management. and i can put quality fans in the front to keep it cool. Bonus points for LED fans.

Might even be able to put a window on it. though there won't be much to see. Wild gigabyte motherboard color schemes and green wireless card pcb.
