I'd like to upgrade my Gpu, but i'm worried because i don't know much about the components.

Here's the specs.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68M-D2H

Cpu: i7 2600

Psu: Some 80 plus silver 700w psu

I'm wondering if i can upgrade to something like an R9 290 or a Gtx 780 without any bottlenecking or other problems?

I'd like to only upgrade the Gpu and motherboard if necessary.

Cpu is running at 3.4ghz. But i'm using the stock cpu cooler, so i don't know about overclocking.

Hi there @Top Shelf!

I don't think you'll be having any problems upgrading the GPU nor you're going to bottleneck your system. :)

I just want to advise you to uninstall the existing drivers on your PC to avoid any conflicts - head to Control Panel, ‘Uninstall a program’, then find and uninstall your drivers. You can also ‘uninstall’ the Display adapters hardware in Device Manager. Also, ground yourself to discharge any static electricity by simply touch a nearby radiator or a metal part of the case while it’s still plugged in.

Cheers! :)

Also, I would not advise overclocking if you are going to stick with the stock cpu cooler, 3.4ghz is enough but you could always go for liquid cooling and overclock it quite high.

The Cpu is not a k series. So i'm not sure about overclocking it at all.

With that motherboard might you be able to run every core on max. turbo speed which normaly is for just two cores.
Don't know where you live, but a cooler like this is probably already enough to cope with the extra heat.

Just a quick question. Can anybody recommend a decent Micro-atx case?

My current case isn't that good. poor ventilation and no cable management.

my only requirement for the case is that it has 1 or more 5.2 inch drive bay.

I move my PC a lot and the motherboard is a micro atx one anyway.

Most or all of these have usb 3.0 ports at the front, your motherboard doesn't support this so you'll probably need to find an adapter for that,

for on a budget does this seem like a decent choice,

An adapter for converting usb 3.0 to 2.0,

You'll need to consider the gpu you're going to buy when picking a case, maybe not all can house bigger cards and not all cards are the same length.Gigabyte for instance uses sometimes those longer triple fan coolers.

N200 looks alright. has the 5.2 inch drive bay and cable management. and i can put quality fans in the front to keep it cool. Bonus points for LED fans.

Might even be able to put a window on it. though there won't be much to see. Wild gigabyte motherboard color schemes and green wireless card pcb.

You'll need the front panel adapter too with that one to be able to use the front usb 3.0 ports.
