Hi,

I've recently upgraded my PC with an SSD and since i re-installed windows, the games i play (such as Tomb Raider and Skyrim) will crash for a few seconds and then come back up, the screen went completely black (and sometimes completely white) during that crash.

However, sometimes when such a crash comes, the game will close itself...

I have the feeling (not sure though) that it's more often happening when the game has to load things, like when i discovered a new place in Skyrim. So i checked my RAM if that could be the problem but while gaming i never get over 6Gig (which i find a disturbing high amount...) and i got 8 Gig so not sure if that's the problem afterall

(i have my games saved on my HDD instead of my SSD, not sure if that makes a difference to my problem)

I got a new GTX660 in my PC,
8Gigs of RAM
AMD FX-8320
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3
WD Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB
SSD 840 EVO 250G Samsung

Got any ideas how to fix it?

EDIT: When my game crashes i get an error message from my friend Windows saying: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
My RAM is just at a steady 4Gig while gaming and my resting mode is 3,6 Gig so nothing special there.

EDIT 2: just did some tests with 3Dmark and all the scores were average with similar systems.

So i think it's something software related and not hardware.

There was a thread on this ages ago and one of the guys told us about a bitcoin miner that infects your system and stresses your memory, causing your games to crash and your display drivers to also crash, If I can find the thread or link, I will tell you.

Thanks, but i just installed all my things on my new SSD and there is no bitcoin or any other software on it yet that has questionable RAM usage (as far as my limited computer knowledge knows)

I would advise getting malwarebytes and avast free security and running a full system scan on both just to be sure..

I am doing the scan's right now. The only thing worthy to mention that was detected is Trojan.BtcMiner.TS found on my secondary HDD. I hope that if i delete that the problems will be over. Going to try in some hours

Yep, that should be your problem, when you go into task manager your memory usage is high isn't it?

Just did some google research http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/trojan-bitcoinmine...
A pretty big step by step guide to fix it. Going to walk through it. I hope you are right and that it can be fixed! I keep you updated!

Good job btw for knowing my problem (asuming that the problems will be over after all the things i have to do) by just looking at such a vague discription of my problems!

Check your task manager, and tell me if the memory usage is high?

No it is a steady 4Gig

4 gig? Is that when you're idle?

That's 50% of your memory, when I'm running games I only get 4gigs

Unfortunately, I had this problem and the fix I told you didn't work so I sent off the card and I'm running this computer on motherboard graphics until I get a new card.

Euhmm, how do i make sure it is my GPU for sure? because i would hate it to send my new GPU off for another 8 weeks and then get it back with the message that everything is working fine...

I am going to install a game on my SSD instead of my HDD, just to make sure that it's not a problem with my HDD
