Ok so i m facing a set back here... Like u guys said I should get the gtx 970 and i was lookin at msi gtx 970 gaming version, it cost around 379 euros but i also looked at the msi gtx 980 gaming that goes for 600 euros. Well i came up with some builds.
One the gtx 970 buy a new 1150 mobo with a watercooler a new cpu I7 4790K a and samsung pro 850 ssd 256g i ll keep my 550w psu my cm 690 III case and my 8 gb 1600 ripjaws.
The other i d keep my board z77 asrock extreme 6 and my I5 3570 buy the 980 the same ssd a noctua nh-d14 for cooler new psu for extra juice and be done with it.
Question is which of this paths is the most performance wise?

How about SLI 970s? your current CPU is fine and you DO NOT need such hi-fi coolers, your CPU is locked you can't OC on it. If your MoBo is SLI capable, I'd grab two 970s and SLI them, along with a good enough PSU, would kill both the current choices performance wise. Or else, 980 with SSD and a SLI capable MoBo for dual GPU in future, and new PSU preferably.
What are your current specs?

I think that 980 not wort 600 euros over the perfomance that 970 shows for only 370 euros. Btw the 970-SLI build seems to me the right choice. So +1 MeteorsRaining

My current specs are:
Case- CM 690 III Nvidia edition
Mobo-asrock z77 extreme 6
CPU-Intel I5 3570 non k
Ram- G Skill cl9 1600 mhz ripjaws
GPU- Nvidia Geforce gt 440
Hard Disk- WD 1 Terabyte hard disk drive
PSU-550 watt
My budget is 1000 to 1100 euros for this upgrade and i want it to be future proof as i wont make another anytime soon. Dual 970 is a hell of a build but also consumes almost 800 bucks off my budjet and i d like to at least buy an ssd a better psu and another cooler (must be cuz i was stupid and managed to break mt stock cooler on one side while i took it out to put new thermal paste). Although the multiplier is locked i dont like it to be runnin on a broken stock cooler.

I'd HIGHLY recommend getting SLI 970s with a good enough PSU and a SSD then, EVGA B2 750W can take two 970s with ease, Rosewill Hive or Capstone, SeaSonic or Antec 700W+ models are very high quality too, shouldn't cost more than 80-100 Euros. Should sweetly be under 1k Euros with a SSD. It'd be a lot better than single 980 or 970, a perfect long term investment :)

Saw your edits, well, there are cheaper yet good cooling options, grab a CM hyper EVO 212 for 25 Euros, more than enough for your CPU.

Hmm and the cpu wont bottleneck the dual 970? Sorry for all the questions. I ve been reading and i could oc it up 400mhz messing with the turbo so if the turbo for my cpu is 3.8 that will make it a 4.2

Even on stock, at 3.4Ghz (w/o turbo), your CPU is plenty for the SLI setup. Turbo to 3.8Ghz and higher will only add frames, no bottlenecks.

A single gtx970 is about 10-15% weaker than a single gtx 980.
The price of a gtx 970 is almost half of gtx 980.
I would too pick 2xGTX970 instead of a single gtx 980.
