When i was opening my i5 4570 from the box i dropped it by accident on the hardwood floor from around 1 m height while it was still in its plastic cover (i hate myself).
I don't have my other components now so i can't check what is the condition.
Did i do any damage to it?
Please answer or the color of my hair is in danger from hearth stops.

If it was still in the plastic cover, it's still ok. It goes through more than that while in the plastic cover before it gets to your house.

It should be fine. There are no pins to bend. No worries.

I would beg to differ.

I dropped my Core 2 chip on a tiled floor from about 1 meter and it ceased to live. Seems there's more stuff to break on them than pins.

I assume in your case, your CPU was not still in its blister pack (the little plastic case it is shipped in the box in). In that case, you could certainly damage a CPU.

Yes, it was out of it's enclosure. Just wanted to point out that fracturing/shocking your chip can kill it. But yeah, his should be fine and dandy if it was encased in plastic.

If we wanted to get silly (academic) with the conversation we could argue the relative hardness and possible damage of dropping onto a hardwood floor vs. a much harder tile surface. The conditions in which the incident occurred certainly has a huge impact (no pun intended) on the outcome.

But spacejunk is right, dropping stuff onto hard surfaces can be catastrophic and it is best to not do so.
