due to personal reasons, i am running extremely low on budget and cannot spend so much. hence i have decided to build config around my current intel core 2 duo e4600 until it dies out on me. so please help. my choice of motherboard supporting lga 775 socket is gigabyte ga-g41m . It supports both ddr2 and ddr3 ram so i will utilise my current 4gb ddr2 667mhz ram (2*2gb). Do i need a cooler for optimising performance? also what graphics card will be best for my pc config as mentioned. p.s.- my monitor is dell e1914h (18.5 inch, TN panel type, 1366x768 resolution) ... please help me. It will be best if you can give links to the relevant products in sites accepting Indian currency. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will need a CPU cooler, but if your current Intel Core2Duo E4600 still has the stock Intel cooler, that will do for now.

We need to know what kind of budget you have to work with as well as what components you need or don't need.

Budget = ?
Case = ?
Power Supply = ?
Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-G41M (Already have or include in your budget?)
CPU = Intel Core2Duo E4600
RAM = 2x2GB DDR2-667
Hard Drive = ?
Optical Drive = ?
Graphics Card = ?

for the money have you looked at amd apu chips...they have better gpu in them so you wont need to spend money on a video card.

due to PCI Gen 1e bottlenecks, its doubtful you'll get past anything over a gtx 560.

Which APU is the best in market today for its price-performance ratio? (Haven't looked at APUs and no idea about them!)

Haven't considered AMD CPUs but now i am checking the prices on internet and they are much lower than intel. How's AMD's performance compared to Intel?

the apu line up with intel newer i3/g line of cpu for performance on the cpu side. it be faster then the older 775 cpu
also have you looked at the prices of the intel g3258 near you. the amd x700 line is an apu chip with the video card not instaleld it also cheaper if you have a video card for your rig.
