It can be done just depends on the system you're speaking of and how powerful the speakers are. Older systems in that era aren't very powerful, perhaps 20w per channel. Systems today are outputting 4x as much.

Hi Boju
Thanks you for reply. The system is SP-X22OT and speakers are 60 watts X 2 so I'd like to keep to that quality. Everything works fine and only ever had to replace the rubber band around the turn table. We also added a Cd player to it. It already had radio and double tape deck. I'm stuck with the problem that now that I've furnished the room I have little room for these speakers. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Having trouble finding any info on it, closest i got was this but cant see behind to have a good look at the connections.

So what you're saying is you dont have room for the speakers and want to try replacing them with slim designs?

Not sure how much room you have to play with so i'll guess you have no room at all for your current speakers beside the unit. Have you thought about maybe raising the speakers on stands or shelving or wall mounts? Might not have room at floor level but up higher maybe?

Floor stands

Wall mounts

A pair of wired Satellite speakers might be ok, can easily have these on wall mounts. But as for the sound quality will vary on speaker driver, box casing and material its made of. Stuff like this need to hear it in person, no good trying to make a decision on paper.

A lot of satellite speakers use RCA connections at the back which you can still get around using speaker wire conversions like;

Just some ideas, best to go to a speaker store near you and get some advice from someone who is in the business.
