Hi I'm putting together a mITX gaming build and basically I just want some hints if I'm doing it right or wrong. Will it overheat? Will something bottleneck it? Is something overkill? Will it be loud?

Case: EVGA Hadron Hydro
GPU: Gigabyte gtx 970 Gaming G1
CPU: i5-4690k
CPU Cooler: EVGA Watercooling Kit for Hadron Hydro
Motherboard: ASUS Z97I-PLUS mITX
RAM: Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB
SSD: Samsung 850 pro 256GB

Everythings perfect but the case. I think that you should go with the bitfenix prodigy: http://adf.ly/spw6u Its more good looking and you can see the GPU Btétter. It gives you much more airflow. If you want the cpu cooler then I would recomend the http://adf.ly/spwCn CM 212 evo. Its great for this build if you want this cheaper. I think that its great.

I know it has better airflow and all but it's so much bigger >.<. Do you have any other ideas of cases that would be better? Fractal Design Node 304 maybe?

Don't buy the Hadron Hydro and the WC kit for it. It's a POS. You can get something like the Prodigy and an XSPC kit for it

Are there no smaller cases that I can go for?

Coolermaster Elite 130 with a Coolermaster Seidon 120XL. Obsidian 250 can be used with an H100i or a Seidon 240m.

Love it.

The only thing I would change out is the graphics card.
It has two issues.
1. It is a highly overclocked GTX770 that needs two 8 pin pcie power connectors that the included 500w psu can't support. A normal GTX770 would want a 575w psu:
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm
If you buy a GTX970, it will perform better, cost less, run on 500w, and be quieter to boot.

2. A fan type cooler is not good for a small case. Use a blower type cooler that gets the hot air directly out the back of the case.
Look to evga for some good ones, either for a GTX970 or even a GTX980 if your budget permits.

Where did you get a GTX 770 from that? :heink:  Not once was a 770 brought up.

Isn't the one I chose a 970?

You chose a 970, not sure where they got the 770 from.

Ah I thought so. Well would a Node 304 work as a case by the way? I like the look of it

Why do you want a smaller case?
Is it a space issue, or is this to be portable, like for lan parties.

The absolute smallest such case I know of is the ncase M1
http://www.ncases.com/v2/m1.php

For lan party work, you can look at the lian li pc-u200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
It is lighter than mose, being made of aluminum.

The node 304 is 9.84" x 8.27" x 14.72"
The evga is 6.65"x13.98"x12.13"

OOPS!! searching for a link, I found the GTX770 version. Sorry.

Still, with one 6 pin and one 8 pin, the G1. is likely to draw more power than the supplied 500w unit can deliver.
The card will not be significantly faster that a stock GTX970 superclock that uses two 6 pin leads only.

Kinda expensive, and I don't think it would work well with the GPU's length. Your cheapest, good, option is the CM 130 elite. Next would be the corsair 250d.

GTX 970 only needs a 500w minimum, and that is for cheap PSU's. Quality ones, the wattage necessary is less. As an example, this rig with a GTX 970 only rated for 313w. A 650w would power my system and my GPU uses nearly double the power of a GTX 970.

The Intel Xeon is not available at any of the shops I'm looking on so will the i5-4690k work?

If you get a k series you are better off getting a z97 board, in order to overclock. If not going to overclock, then get a locked i5 like the i5 4460. Wouldn't need the water cooling if you decide not to overclock, really, either.

Well I'm going for overklocking so that's what I'm going for then.

Would you personally recommend a Prodigy btw or is the CM 130 better?

Would you recommend the Prodigy or the Prodigy M by the way? I've heard that if you're not planning to SLI you should get the mITX one. Also what fans would be good?

If you do not think you will ever use any expansion slots, then ITX is fine.

Well the last question then. How much worse is the airflow in the Prodigy M version?
