PowerColor Radeon R9 290 4GB PCS+ Video Card
Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor

VS

PowerColor Radeon R9 290 4GB PCS+ Video Card
AMD FX-9370 4.4GHz 8-Core OEM/Tray Processor

So my question here is simple , which of these combos would perform best? Or would they basically be about the same?
Since there is about a 150+ price difference beetween the two I'm interested in getting some insights. Thanks in advance ,

Note: To deal with a moderate workload (graphic design programs) and the occasionally healthy dose of hi-performance gameplay .

The i7-5820K hands down between the two. The FX-9XXX CPU's aren't worth the money consider the heat (220W), the cost of cooling (Even AMD stresses water cooling), and the limited motherboards that support it. If you do go AMD, the FX-8350. Most can be easily overclocked to the FX-9370 level, and don't require massive cooling.

I have a 9590 with a 290x in a saber tooth motherboard. Works good but honestly support for intel is far better I use it for gaming on 2560x1440 get the job done for the most part. But when it comes to crossfire support and bugs is the order of the day same with setting a raid array on the other part on a Intel platform those are way better to set up. Heat is another problem I have like 6 or 7 fans on a carbide r400 case just to keep it cool the card won't go past 87c with a custom curve and is relatively quiet plus the cpu while holds a high tdp is super easy to cool with a h100i and it fairly quiet as well I don't regret building an amd system but with the fx line showing age I would look somewhere else (Intel) until they come up with something better
