Is there any way I can keep my os and files on my hardrive. I need to change my motherboard so I don't think it'll boot up? Is there a solution?

What board do you have and what are you changing to? What kind of windows license do you have - is it OEM or retail?

Most likely, windows will boot fine and will at most ask for re-activation. If its an OEM key you may need to speak to microsoft and say you have changed the board out (if old one was faulty) and they should be fine with that. Retail can be reactivated without any issues.

Hmm then its likely you may need to reactivate windows. It should still boot though.

However, its best to copy out data to be safe just in case - better to be safe than sorry!

Do you mean the reactivation or copying data?

Quite simple....when you boot into Windows , it will bring up a pop up saying something like windows is not activated etc.. Just follow the onscreen instructions and thats it.
