If you choose R9 280X you have some spare money to invest into a stronger CPU - FX-6350! By that you loose nothing and gain more CPU.

There are lot of problems reported with asus r9 280x GPU so try another brand for r9 280x.

PSU is crappy change it to xfx 650 watt or seasonic 620 watt or antec HCG .

should I stay with the GTX 770 or go with an r9 280x, would brand would you suggest? And I will change the PSU, but other than that is this a good build ?

yes its a decent build and i have checked the prices of gtx 770 and r9 280x and they are equal in Australia so go with EVGA gtx 770 better drivers and go for this one 10 $ more for 4gb and its from EVGA.
