Hello,

I have a laptop [HP ProBook 450, Windows 7, Intel HD Graphics 4600] connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 2494LW monitor using a VGA cable.

Windows' Screen Resolution tool only allows me to set the resolution of the extended monitor to 1600x1200 although this does not fit the screen well as the optimal resolution is 1920x1080.

I have updated the monitor's drivers, and I cannot find any solution in the manual.

How do I get my monitor to the optimal 1920x1080 resolution!?

Thanks,
Dan

I wasn't able to find any details on the internet either...

Intel® HD Graphics 4600 can output more than 1920x1080 on a VGA cable.

I know the resolution of that laptop isn't 1080p either though. Maybe you should contact HP to find out.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Samsung has drivers on their website for this monitor. I downloaded and installed those.

As far as cables go, I do not have another cable. The monitor has VGA and DVI-D. Would an HDMI to VGA be better, or HDMI to DVI-D?
