for $400 it wouldn't be possible to get a PC that could be seriously considered a "gaming PC."

If your father won't let you build, ask him to go with you to an electronics store and look at what prebuilt computers they have on sale. Or you could search online for deals as well.

I would implore your father to reconsider the matter of allowing you to build. For this price range, you have the ability to build a much better computer for gaming on your own than the pre-built alternatives.

This is typical of what you will be able to find new for $400 - $500.

The low end gfx cards included might be OK if you game at one of the 720p resolutions. 1280x720, 1366x768... and you are happy with mid settings.

That will be difficult, but if you look hard enough you can find some good computers on sale online. I can only suggest that you look EVERYWHERE.
I just found this one on amazon if you don't mind the fact that it's used then it could be great for you. http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-p7-1510-Desktop-Proce...

If you live near a Microcenter, I would recommend shopping around there as they have great deals on computer components.

You could do something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAREBONES-PC-CUSTOM-SYSTEM-MM8-...
Then, if it doesn't have enough gfx power as is, you could add this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Don't get an HP. You'll have problems if you ever want to upgrade the gfx card.

No, that uses the tiny Kabini CPU. Not intended for gaming power.
About your mouse question... maybe you shouldn't be looking to buy a high end mouse if you can't afford more than $400 for a PC.

I'm getting a used one and a Tartarus from a friend who's buying the newer stuff, there the 2014 editions and like I was saying I'm getting kind of a bundle 75 for both as he's buying the
Logitech g600 and a razed black widow now, and they've barely been used I mean he only used the naga for LoL and the tartutas haven't been used since he got it cause it didn't fit his hand we'll so he just used the keyboard in his razer blade

My father just said I can push the budget to 500 and my brother offers to pay for the mouse so I guess it's more towards the 500 range now

I'm going to be putting together a budget/mid range gaming PC this week for sale on ebay. Some new parts and some gently used parts. If interested, PM me and I'll send you a link when it's online. I haven't settled on a price yet. But it will be $500-ish.

The CyberPower is better.

To find out how good the CPU is you mainly need to look at the number of cores and the speed (in GHz,) but more cores doesn't always mean a better CPU, 4 cores is about as high as you want to go. A dual core processor is good enough for most needs but quad core is better (especially for gaming.)

As for the RAM, currently you want to look for 4GB, or if you can afford it, 8GB. If you're comparing an 8GB PC to a 10GB PC get the 8GB because it's probably going to be cheaper and there's hardly any difference between the two.

When it comes to the HDD people are all getting 1TB but all you really need is 500GB and if that's not enough in a year or two you can add another internal HDD (if there's room in the tower) or get an external HDD because they've gotten pretty cheap.

Would it be possible at all if someone could reccomend me a laptop for under 600 that can run. Minecraft at over 80 fps, and Team fortress, COD, Titanfall, LoL and other games at a decent fos at mid settings.
