hey look... im back again, crossfire is giving me nothign but issues I feel ashemed asking rather dumb questions
anyways, im playing in full screen mode because I know for a fact I have to for crossfire to work, but... it seems like it isn't using my second card at all performance hasnt changed AT ALL, I don't even see the fan on the second GPU spinning, msi after burner shows signs of it jsut sitting idle

ccc says crossfire is enabled, but im not noticing anything, any ideas?

More about : crossfire working assumed

download GPU-Z. What does it show? 2 gpus enabled?

The fans should be on.

Do you have the bridge connected?

Proper power cables to the card?

What are your specs?

Is the game you are trying to play compatible with crossfire?
Also What game are you having trouble with? does it do this in all games or just that one game?

Don't forget about AMD's Zero Core Tech. This shuts down the GPU till it is needed.

ok, i tried another game (tomb raider) and comparing my pc to other benchamrks, an average fps of 46 fps is LOW, luckily I did see the other card actually being used with msi after burner and the fan started up, so it was the Zero Core Tech doing its job before, BUT it still comes with the issue.... its not giving me a single lick in performance boost. I'm pretty sure my i7 4771 isnt bottlenecking it, or my asus z87-a mobo

so I jsut turned on watch dogs, was expecting around 40fps...I got it
but with tomb raider, im actually getting that low of a number because tis not using my 2nd gpu at all, while watch dogs is.... this, is confusing to say the least

be sure you are using the latest drivers for the GPU's. Also make sure you have installed "AMD Catalyst Application Profiles". This enables crossfire for games.

I have 13.12 because in 14.x amd removed a feature that I need to record so i cant go to the latest unless I have a mod for the drivers that lets me record at half decent fps, or amd fixes what they broke (Also, I have confirmed its amd's fault and has nothign to do with the software IM using)
i'll get the AMD Catalyst Application Profiles though

Use which ever driver works the best for you. The newest is not always best But the CAP files are needed and will most likely cure your situation.

I would check the performance of each one, one at a time

do the capfiles come with ccc or the display drivers? I assume ccc, if so i can get ccc 14.x and have 13.12 display drivers

they were a separate download. The newest I can find is here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/...

If they started including them it is news to me.

There are just games that don't work well when using crossfire. I know that Assassins Creed III does not work with crossfire config very well. Also, Watch_Dogs doesn't work well with crossfire either. So it really depends on the games that you play..

I should have read the whole thread before posting my first comment.

Anyway, what did you have to do to fix your problem?

I've got two R9 280X from Asus so I know most of the problems that you're having lol.

Keep in mind that Crossfire frame pacing still doesn't work with 280x's and DirectX 9 games (Skyrim) and OpenGL games (Rage, WoW, Minecraft, Wolfenstein).

some games just didn't crossfire like tomb raider and minecraft (I care about the fps with shaders, not normally)
I just had to install the cap files to get crossfire to work, sadly I cant get the latest drivers because I use dxtory to record and amd took out an important feature that I need for that piece of software, so now I only record 24fps with minecraft, everything else records fine though. (I like dxtory because it separates my audio files, my cpu doesnt even go over 50% when I use it, so its far form recourse intensive on my machine)

I aso had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers so many times because for some reason it wouldnt install properly either giving me crashing display drivers, mom errors, it was just a mess and gave a different result every time, and it finally, just...works and I really dont want to touch anything until 15.x drivers when they hopefully fix the issues with dxtory, or i can find a mod for 14.x display drivers

Skyrim? That's probably the reason why I stutter in the game even though the game stays constant on 60 FPS. Good thing putting the game on borderless windowed mode fixes this problem though.
