I'm a first time builder and I'm unsure about my specs list and need to know where i can make improvements without skyrocketing the price. The purpose of this pc is mainly gaming however i want to be able to record in full hd and edit and render videos on this computer to. Thank you in advance.

this is my specs list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/ThatWeirdoKyle/saved/X2...

Are you dead set on getting an AMD build?

I would implore you to get an i5 and oc, stock clocks even...

Also, please don't xfire the 7850s. Get a gtx 970, even if that means getting less of other items. Also, there are some pretty sick power supplies out there for cheap that are made by reputable brands. Look on amazon.

I'll put a rig together that in my opinion is good.

What is your budget?

I don't claim that my view is paramount to others, so take what I say with a grain of salt. As you would with any other individual.

mm I'm mostly set on amd because my budget is only really £1000 maybe a bit over that. But i'll gladly look at your rig and see what i think. I'm just skeptical about what intel has over amd as well. Thank you.

Dude, I live in america, pounds are a little more valuable than the dollar. If you've got 1000 pounds to work with, I can set you up.

Give me... 20 minutes? Be back soon.

I see you need a monitor, speakers, wireless card, and operating system? I'll get that together soon.

Godbless,
Chao

[Edit] Pounds pounds pounds I meant pounds.

Chaotixblade's Build

This build has a faster processor, a faster gpu, and a more powerful power supply. You simply cannot go wrong with this build. You can later buy a liquid cpu cooler (prefferably an h55 from corsair for 55

poudns) and achieve 4.2ghz stable accross all cores reasonably easily.

There are benchmarks out that show the FX-8xxx series is on par with the i5 3xxx. The i5 4xxx beats it out by a reasonable margin (be it small) in multi threaded applications.

The kicker is in single threaded applications which is what you will be feeling most of the time. The performance gap within video games is very small. (So even if it was slightly slower, which its not, you would not feel it within games)

But it is about 51% faster in single threaded applications. That makes the $40 worth it.

Additionally, its only 40 pounds more than the FX series one. So you might as well. 51% boost in single threaded performance and about 3-5% in multithreaded.

Most importantly, this rig will absolutely decimate the one that pc part picker threw together. This machine is an absolute boss of a machine. I am jealous of it (just bought an r9 280x about two months ago... :\ )

In the same way, this is what makes computers feel so much faster when you use an SSD. (Totally different reason behind the speed increase, but just why it feels faster.) It, like the SSD, will contribute close to zero in terms of FPS. But your only gaming a portion of the time. The rest of it your working on word documents, surfing the internet, and streaming videos online. In those situations you will feel the speed increase.

Wrong, its FIFTY PERCENT faster in single threaded applications.

---

In essence, amd processors do less in a single cycle than intel cpus. To solve this issue, they run at higher clock speeds and they throw more cores at the problem. (Although, according to intel's standards, their cores aren't "true" cores. But amd would like you to believe as much)

This is why you will notice that the AMD cpus use a ton more power than the Intel.

While those additional cores help in multithreaded performance, it does nothing to aid the single threaded performance. Which is why you're seeing that staggering 50% performance loss with the FX 8xxx.

---

I don't know how technologically competent you are. But that build is night and day better than the PC part picker. Buy it, its an amazing machine...

Well i can't argue with the benchmarks, this will be suitable for editing and rendering full hd videos up to 20 mins or longer ? without completely dying ? that's one of my main concerns. Thank you again btw !!

Not a problem, friend. I think you will find that even to AMD fanboys what I said can be taken fairly.

That power supply is an absolute boss, lol. It's pretty sick dude.

All the parts are very high quality. Check out my notes about watercooling, an h55 down the road will allow you to hit 4.1ghz relatively easily. Additionally, a 120gb ssd will make your pc perform like its on speed.

Godbless man.

Please see the previous response, I edited it a number of times. Some information wasn't visible to you at the time of your response. (As indicated by your quote differing from my post.)

Particularly: 51% speed increase in single threaded applications, not 21%

To answer your question: yes, it will do that absolutely fine. You will not see your gpu reach temperatures above 70 C, cpu probably will stay around 50 C.

My i5 3570 has never reached above 63 C with a stock cooler. Haswell is supposed to run cooler.
i5 3570 @

Please also look at the actual benchmark section. That i5 4670 though said to be 1 percent slower, it beats the FX 8xxx in everything by a mile. Its staggering lol.
