I am thinking of buying an i5-4690K as part of my rig update and was wondering whether it can remain operational(in relevantly cool temperatures) under load(1080p gaming) with the stock cooler. I might use a Corsair H105 liquid cooling solution but I'm not sure if it's worth the extre £80.
I don't plan to overclock it for the next 6 months to come, and don't want to use an aftermarket air cooler because it looks ugly and migh disrupt air flow inside the case. I will be using a Corsair 350D case.

The stock cooler is not adequate for long duration heavy processing. Some games will cause it to reach high temps quickly, and it will throttle itself.

A cheap £20-30 cooler will help a lot in the meantime, and it is always good to have a backup later on. And they only disrupt airflow if you let them. In most layouts they work well with rear exhaust and an intake fan at the front. Or vertical orientation to let the fan work with top exhaust. There are also aftermarket downdraft coolers to look at.

Would a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO be enough for stock clock?

Yes, that EVO 212 cooler works great, I've had it for a few years on my spare i5 guest rig and I had it oc to 4.5ghz and was cool enough for long gaming sessions.
