Have 2 hard drives. Can I make a bootable flash drive with Win XP and Service Pack 2 and install it to the smaller SATA drive without Win 8.1 being involved? I know Microsoft says the older OS should be on the system first, rather the reverse that I want to do. Can I do this safely and have the dual boot?

Hey there, Tealwood!

I'm not sure this will work for you, because I haven't tried it myself yet.
But I found some instructions for installing Windows XP on a PC with an existing Windows Vista/7/8
https://neosmart.net/wiki/easybcd/dual-boot/windows-xp/...

I'm not sure it's going to work with Win 8.1, but I guess it won't hurt to take a look and try.
I hope this helps you! :)

Hi, I looked over the info in the link you gave me. It would be great if that worked. My fear is that it would totally mess up my system and I'd have to do a clean install of Win 8.1! IYO, what's the worst scenario? Do you know anything about this NeoSmart group? Are they trustworthy? Do you know of any way to find out if anyone has tried this with Win 8.1? I didn't see anywhere to ask on their site, no forum, etc.

Thanks for your help.
