Hi
Hestating between 2 builds (for gaming)
Which sounds better,
Intel i5 4670 and a r9 270x
Or a pentium g3258 overclocked, a fan and a gtx 770

Rest of build is as follows in both cases
Msi z97 g45 mobo
Ripjaws 8gb ddr3 2133
Wd 1tb black
Corsair cxm 600 watt bronze.
Both add up to roughly the same price, so i would like to know which cpu/gpu combo is better as well as if there are any other improvements with this build i could make.
Thanks

Ok wait. If you get a pentium and gtx 770, the gtx 770 will be bottlenecked by the pentium. If you get a i5 4670 (please get a i5 4670k), there will be no bottleneck. Get the i5 4670 and r9 270x (or if possible get a gtx 770 with the i5 4670!)

The GTX 770 itself will not be bottlenecked, your games however will be. So long as a CPU has enough PCIE lanes your GPU will not be affected by your processor. However when you start playing games the can utilize more than 2 threads on your CPU then you will take a performance hit.
There is no sense buying the best part money can buy and combining it with with a system that is not on par. You wouldn't put a Ferrari engine in a bug would you?

I just had this convo with people on my thread... i also wanted to use the pentium.. but we came to the conclusion that its wwwaaaaayyyy better to rather get the i5 4670/4690 and id suggest the "k" since this is a very very tiny amount more expensive and id also suggest the 4690k since its the new devil's canyon cpu's and is tiny diff but tiny better which will help in the long run and its really only like about 10$ difference if im not mistaken! Hope this helps
