I'm trying to upgrade this computer here's(http://store.hp.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/us/en/hp-envy-phoenix-810-160-desktop-pc-%28energy-star%29) preformence and I figure a newer graphics card is the best way to go. Though, I'm not sure where to start. Could I get some recommendations?

The 970 is the best you can get right now in that price range. Most 970's are about $350.

I heard reports that the 970's made loud noises when idle. I might check it out if it isn't an issue though.

buy Asus 970 Strix. Fans turn on when card reaches 65 °C (149 °F) so when on idle card will be completely silent
