I'm experiencing spikes in latency that go from 30 to 150-200 rather consistently. I've checked with my brother who is on a wired connection and he is not experiencing this issue. My step father who is not on a wired connection is also not experiencing this issue. We live in a very small house and my room is maybe 15 feet away from my brother's.

It is very frustrating to play video games while this is occurring (all of the time). We've called out our ISP for the problem recently and have seen some improvements, so I do not believe that our ISP is the issue. I have a pretty beat up Ethernet cable, could that be the issue? Sorry for my lack of competence, I am not knowledgeable at all whatsoever in this field. I do not believe it is a problem with the modem or router either, due to the fact that it is ONLY effecting me. I'm at a bit of a loss. Any input is appreciated.

Here are some screenshots of the nuisance that I am experiencing:

Pinging Google: http://gyazo.com/8ed697e4da7def2abedcaba666853663 (these happen on a VERY consistent basis, I had this open for 10 seconds to grab this screenshot.)

Tracert Google: http://gyazo.com/a11c789943f592ae0bfd74e9eb7d9280

Once again, I am sorry for my extreme lack of knowledge, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to play video games.

Hey how you going? I play Black Ops 2, I hate lag. I am studying as a student CERT 4 Networking. I would like to know more before I start calling things. But so far I am saying your computer has processes running that do not need to run that are chewing your internet an lagging you out. Oh by the way your ping an tracert are really good. That's great, your internet has 3 times better reaction then mine.

Try this please an tell me what you read. Start your computer up but do not attempt to load anything, just let it do its thing, now left click your internet status an right click your connection then left click status

Have a look at the received number, mine doesn't move when I am on the internet because I made it like that, if your's is moving more then 1000 persecond there is your first problem, then we work on that. If that's the case I may need to teach you some programming. Then you can write ya own patches.

So mrnateguy what does you meter read?
