Hello there community.

I have been getting this problem ever since the 14 drivers have been released; while playing a game (Dota 2 mainly) all the sudden, the game freezes on a frame for about 2-3 seconds, with a buzzing sound and then my screen goes all black telling me (DVI signal lost) I try everything to bring it back, but nothing works and I end up restarting my pc. What I did was download 13.# (I think it was 13.11, I formatted my system and cannot really remember if it was 13.11,13.12 or 13.something else) ) and I got no problems whatsoever for months and months. When I saw that 14.9 was released I though of giving it a try in hope that this issue would be fixed, but still I got the same problem. I have a 280x running on a win8.1.

Can anyone help me identify what is causing this to happen on and on with every 14 driver I try, but not with the 13 series? The issue persisted while I was updating my previous driver to any 14 iteration AND after I formatted my pc (for another reason) and had a clean install.

Regards.

Do you mean this one http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2288261/amd-catalyst-driver-special-submission-form.html#14377847 ?
If so, then yes I just did, thank you for pointing me there. Meanwhile if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it, I have had this issue for almost a year now and my temporary "solution" does not seem to work as I cannot recall which driver exactly worked fine prior to 14.#, that is not to mention that I was stuck with an old driver and could not update (still cannot)

Well yes, but my problem is not specific to 14.4, I am now getting it on 13.12 (what I currently installed).

Btw when I uninstall from amd's installer, It gives me some errors after uninstalling. I am really frustrated.

well now I checked after again trying to uninstall all amd components (why do amd have billions of folders; the amd one, the program files ATI technologies one, the ati one and then others in the program files x86?) anyway, I realized another issue that I have been getting(this is one is also old and might be tied to my problem) which is; sometime I uninstall using the amd software and after reboot and installing and rebooting again, when I check the information section in the ccc - software, it says the old driver under catalyst version. I just uninstalled all (what should have been all, I even went to the control panel and deleted the instal manager) amd components, rebooted after I was asked to. Reinstalled 14.9 beta(entire package), rebooted checked and it says 13.12(the one I just uninstalled) under catalyst version.

This is driving me mad. Not only am I not being able to run my drivers normally, but I cannot even uninstall normally???? what is going on AMD????

In device manager driver version is 14.3. . . . . . . . sigh

be careful lots of amd folders can be core windows for the 64 bit amd developed 64 bit and it is what is used for that

and yes I used 13 .xx drivers with out issues and got the 14.xx drivers to help a guy with issues on it awile back and had issues with them so I removed the 14.xx driver and went back to 13.xx and the issue was still there and have not resolved so something with the 14.xx screwed me the same way as you on this rig [I done left amd for intel for my first time ever in 14 years but still used there cards but now thats fixing to change by going NVidia on that]

never had a issue intill them 14.xx got in here on me and worked on it till I just figured I would have to reinstall windows to fix it and that sucks

Hello Junkeymonkey,

I respect Rasgueados’ privacy. Since he’s sent me a private message, I intend to keep the conversation private. Let me assure you that once we troubleshoot and fix his issue, and with his approval, I will return here and share the information with everyone.

ok that's fair-- but you got a lot of threads here over them 14.xx drivers and I must say I got bit by them to the point I feel I would need to reinstall windows to fix
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/all.html?refine=amd+1&refine=amd+14

my issue is not major but its the fact that after removing it and going back to the 13.4 that work with out issue 100% did not resolve now its lots of atidxx32 dll hangs with IE never had this or any issues prior to 14.xx

You can thank the windows driver cache for keeping the drivers around even when you try to "Remove" them

look done been there done that I add remove drivers a lot over the years and them look at all the threads on this 14. driver -- 253767 results and I understand there not all about issues but I see it being 80% for issues and I understand I was born at night but it was not last night

i'll recant what I said and see that with the new 14.9 driver this is now a known issue

◾[400693]: While running performance test, crash is observed with fault module atidxx32.dll

it a issue with more than just that but as I said its minor [so far] but never had any issues until 14.xx

so now i'm good that it is reported as a issue and will be happy with that for now

[404829]: Horizontal flashing lines on second screen in a clone mode with V-Sync on using AMD Mobility Graphics with Switchable Intel Graphics

That is a pretty nasty list of bugs
