What exactly is my CPU temp?

Okay,I built a PC and I am using one of the AMD APUs,the A10 7850K. Before I do any kind of exploring into overclocking anything,I need to ascertain which is my actual CPU temp. Its VERY different, depending what I view it with. I know there is always a small difference in things, but not by this much.

First is Coretemp 1.0 RC6,which I dont think is even reading it right. It only lists the model as "AMD Processor" and nothing under the platform heading. On average, its reading around 20 C,which sounds insanely low.

Next is Speedfan 4.50. It lists a boat load of different temps, including and "AUX" that is usually reading around -60 C. It has a header for CPU and another for CORE. The CORE reading is the same as what Coretemp says, plus or minus a refresh rate difference. The CPU is,on idle, hovering around 42 C,which may be more accurate as to what the CPU temp really us.It also lists the iGPU temp, which is right around what the CORE temp reads.

Finally, there is either Piriform Speccy 1.26.698 or CPUID HWMonitor 1.25.0 .Their temp readings for the CPU are both a much higher temp than any of the others say, usually hovering around the mid to high 60's and the low 70's. That kind of worries me a bit since the TJmax is 70 C on this APU.

Since I have two things saying the same thing and two things saying different things (for the most part),I am more inclined to believe the two that say the same thing. It is using stock cooling on the proc and I know you need more than that for OC,but I would only do some very minor OC,possibly for only the GPU cores. My case is a pretty open desktop case, with a mesh top that will soon have a 200 mm fan mounted on it,as soon as the thing finally comes in,which will further increase the airflow and pull lots of heat out,not that it is even allowed to build up much at all to begin with.I will also put some dual 80mm fans on the lower back section, which will suck air in under the mobo. I would think, that with all that extra airflow, some very minor OC'ing would not hurt too much,as long as I am conservative with it.

You won't really even need to oc with that CPU, but, if you are stuck on the idea of overclocking then don't ever do it with a stock cooler, You'll end up regretting it in the near future. You got me? Are you using this cpu for graphics too? if so, then those temps aren't far off from what they should be with only a stock cooler

Bottom line is! Save yourself the sorrow and money and buy yourself this aftermarket cooler...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103107&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= If you aren't on a tight budget then go ahead and make yourself a pie and get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

@Shamar: I will likely throw some better cooling into it. I had planned on having that Hyper 212 Evo,but had to cut back on costs last minute because of something that also prevented me getting a discreet card. I see this build as a work in progress still. If I OC anything,it will be the iGPU a little bit. In the future,I will be OCing to likely about 4.5 Ghz with a discreet card, likely a R9 270 or maybe one of the new 285s,if my 500 W PSU can handle it.BTW,the one you linked doesnt seem to be that much better than stock, according to reviews. I know I dont really need to OC the CPU,but I do want to squeeze a bit more out of its iGPU,until I can afford a discreet card. I may split the diff and get a R7 250 and use dual gfx,as the most gfx heavy game I have is Mass Effect 3,which I have to use 1366x728 or maybe 1600x900 to get decent FPS.

@LookItsRain: So from what I can understand, the thermal margin is a "distance until you melt it" value,in a matter of speaking. The only AMDOverdrive I currently have is the one built in to CCC and I am assuming its the same thing basically but is only for OC. I installed AOD you linked and will check it out soon to see the temps, after I get around to restarting. Thanks for that link and I hope I understood it correctly.
