If you haven't already know, Acer/Gateway have been using a proprietary mobo so the can save money with their cheap power-supply units. The Standard ATX power connector is 24 pin or 20 pin but to save money Acer/Gateway uses 12 pin mobo power connectors. I though all was lost when I bought my New EVGA 500W PSU and GTX750TI but after relentless searching I've found a company who makes adapters for less than $19. http://www.moddiy.com/products/Acer-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-12%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%2830cm%29.html
There's a guy on EBay who does the conversion of your power supply to 12 pin for $50 and its not warrantied and shipping not included. Don't thank me thank the Internet and GOD!!!

Oh this thing again. Yea motherboard companies try this crap every now and then. Back around 2000 Dell had a proprietary CPU power connection, this was before the days that a 4-pin power connection was a standard and thus really it was completely unnecessary for the time. It got worse though, because they had different settings for different motherboards. For example, one of them sent just a little power over the connection but was mandatory, I have a motherboard which uses this method. While a different motherboard and PSU sent much more power over the exact same connection, so if you plugged one of the high power PSUs up to the motherboard it would go "Pop". Completely ridiculous.

Hopefully Acer won't keep that crap up for long.
