Hey all!
Recently I've been having an issue with my laptop. I mainly use it for schoolwork and gaming, however I've noticed that it runs really hot when I use it for certain video games. For League of Legends it runs at about normal temperature (high 60's, low 70's), however when I play Blizzard games like World of Warcraft or Hearthstone, the temperature jumps to high 80's. I determined that it is the GPU that's overheating. The CPU is heating up as well but I have a feeling its only warm because of the proximity to the GPU since its a laptop and everything is a little bit more confined.

I am planning on calling Lenovo support since it's still under warranty but they don't have the best service and I'm dreading being without a laptop for too long. Any suggestions on ways to fix this without getting Lenovo involved?

Below is a link to the exact laptop I have, minus Windows 8. I rolled it back to Windows 7 when I got fed up with the tiles.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated :)

Laptops will always run at fairly high temps for the exact reasons you listed, but those temps do seem to be getting quite high.

There are a few things you could try, using a can of compressed air to try and clear out any dust that could be clogging up the air vents of the laptop (do this with the laptop turned off of course). Also make sure you are not using it on a soft surface such as a bed sheet or mattress as that can block the air flow out of the laptop and increase temperatures. You can also try getting a third-party laptop cooling matt, these are usually cheap and provide some increased airflow by elevating the laptop and cooling it with additional fans.

If all else fails it could be something internally that you can't fix...
