Hi
My cousin has an old i3 550 and his
Motherboard ecs h55h-m sometimes he has to change the ram position in order to let it boot to Windows I've checked both the ram and the board and they are working fine
So what's the problem?
I haven't updated the bios to the latest one but I'm thinking of doing that
The rig
Core i3 550 @3.2Ghz
2GB Samsung ram 1333mhz
H55h-m
Gts 450 cyclone
Antec 450w psu
WD 500gb blue

What happens when it fails to boot? Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

The fans are working but no signal on screen
Also the ram swap thing didn't work this time
Could it be psu?

Shuffling the RAM forces the BIOS to rescan the hardware configuration but also flexes the motherboard. I'm inclined towards a flaky connection somewhere that is closed when the board flexes down as you push the DIMM into the socket. If that's what's happening then it's time for a new motherboard. You might be able to prove this theory by pressing down on the DIMMs when trying to power the machine on: if this makes it turn on and a second try pulling up causes it to fail (or vice versa) that would be pretty conclusive.

You can try to eliminate other possible causes by swapping in known-good parts. If swapping in a given part makes it work again, just be sure that that part in an otherwise-known-good system moves the failure there so you can be sure it's the part and not wiggling the motherboard that made the problem go away.
