I'm getting a new PC for Christmas anyway, so it's not a huge deal, but currently i have an alienware m14x, not sure if it's r1 or r2, and it won't boot, even in safe mode. I've tried restoring to a previos point, to no avail. The BIOS works fine, but when i bluscreen upon attempted launch, it only flashes and reboots. I've been able to get a diagnostic though, and what I've recieved is listed:

2000:0142
2000:0142
2000:0142

They're all the same... But it's listed thrice, so I typed it. I looked it up on google, it took me to dell's website. I looked around and it said it was a hard disk error, but i want to see if anybody has a fix, even though it's not likely. Please try to help if possible.

Could well be hard disk failure. You can check that with a boot CD containing the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software which is free.

For all hard drive brands except WD, you can use SeaTools for DOS: http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/item/sea...

For WD drives, use Data LifeGuard Diagnostic for DOS. The link to the CD image is here:

To create a CD from a CD Image file, you can use the free IMGBurn[i/]: http://filehippo.com/download_imgburn
