New seagate drive failed out of box.

when you clone a failing hard drive to brand new hard drive, do the bad sectors from old drive cause new drive to fail?

If the old drive wouldn't boot, the new drive won't boot.

It wont hurt the new drive, no. But if you clone a bad installation to a new drive, of course you clone the problems too. You also have to make sure you are cloning it correctly using imaging software. Just copying does not work.
