Asus card is in $549. Your best options are either Gigabyte GV-N970WF3OC-4GD or EVGA 04G-P4-0974-KR

Gigabyte and MSI have it all over the competition..... both break 1500 Mhz, the MSI has hit 1567 at hitechlegion....

The review here is prolly the most detailed you will ever see.... if ya wanna see which ones will clock higher, pay strict attention to what parts each uses on the PCB and which gets these parts actively cooled and which doesn't

Gigabyte and MSI version both have overclocked to 1500MHz+ both are at $519. If budget is not the issue then I would recommend MSI card. Asus card is expensive but their customer support is good.

I guess I've seen this build before on this forum. Anyhow, if playing at 1080p with 60/Hz monitor, to be honest, you really don't need 970. You can even grab 4GB version in 760/770 and still be better off.

Anyhow, EVGA series 970 could not deliver due to their cooling issues. Your option is to buy Gigabyte/MSI/Asus card. Asus being expensive I would again recommend considering MSI/Gigabyte card with air cooling.

500-550W PSU would be sufficient here.

650W is not required for a single card. for a single card you are covered with 500-550W PSU. Even this 500W PSU is more than plenty.

Yes, MSI this one http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_97... is really good card to choose from

Might go with this one unless anyone has objections.

I've mostly recommended this card MSI GTX 970 4G despite the fact that I'm EVGA's fanboy. Go with it and enjoy the performance.

'

Newegg and Amazon both had the MSI for $349 last night .... Newegg had the Giga ... both sold out in 10 minutes.... little latter Amazon had 3 more MSI but for $379

You'll want a 750 watter for SLI....see nvidia PSU requirements the link below .... NOTE: For whatever reason the on line calculators, at least some of them are busing 110 watts for this card which is woefully inadequate. The card pulls 160 - 165 watts at peak loading, "outta the box", add more if OCing to 1500 or whatever.
