I would like advice on these parts for around $1600 AUD max.
I was focused on possibly changing the PSU and motherboard.
Would the ASRock Z97 Pro4 out perform this motherboard and is the power supply to standard with the build?
Is the audio on this board adequate?
Thanks, I play DirectX 8 source games, hence monitor.

Solution

I got it covered, see my build above your post :D
I've done everything in AU dollars as well.

This is in purely AUS dollars, with the actual prices of the AU stores. The builds above are not accurate in terms of price as they are using the US pcpartpicker and it is displaying US prices, even when converted will not be exact, often it will be quite a bit more expensive than it looks.

This is more than sufficient for 3 years, maybe more depending on what you are going to do with it in the future, but for gaming this will be golden for a few years to come. You can slightly downgrade the motherboard to a cheaper one and get a cheaper gpu to get an ssd if you really need one.

Sorry, but no...

The link you posted is in US dollars, not AUD. Are you sure you can get all that stuff?
And on another note, you went with a 760, which will surely not provide you over 144 FPS, and surely not even 60 FPS on Ultra in most games.

I would say get a 60Hz monitor, and a better card, like R9 280x, GTX 770 or GTX 970, depending on the prices and what you can get.
Also, get a better PSU. The Builder/CX/CS from Corsair are very bad.
Go for something else from Corsair, or SeaSoniv, Antec, Silverstone, EVGA.

Direct X8. M8. Source games, maxframes cfg, uncapped fps. you can reach like 800 fps with the gtx 660 on most source games with a proper config.

It doesn't really justify getting a gtx 760 just to save $20, even if performance isn't an issue. You can do what you feel is good for you but I'm just saying no point downgrading to a much worse gpu for just $20.

this is my local and only desired part store.
i have repeated myself multiple times.
i appreciate your consideration towards your build but it's overkill at my local store for my selected games and it costs well over 600 AUD.
