Just got a Razer Tiamat 7.1, plugged everything in, everything is recognised but no sound coming through mic. It is the only one enabled, I have tried unplugging and plugging back in, it isn't muted on the control thingy you get on the headset line, it isnt muted in either the speaker mixer or the mic. Its there as if it should be working. when i turn the mic boost up to 30db there is a very loud buzzing in the headset. please help?

Hmm try installing driver again. Sounds like the computer doesn't understand the headset.
Also, on a review I saw:
"you may need to upgrade your PC's sound card to take full advantage of them"
Not sure why but it looks like that could be your problem. You need a sound card that supports the 7.1 audio standard

What drivers? And it says on the website that although a 7.1 sound card will improve, it isn't necessary.

There seems to be a few people suggesting that you do need a good sound card, although that might not be the issue. I can't get on the razer website from here, but maybe try looking for a downloads section, and finding drivers for the headset? Drivers are like programs to let the computer understand what the plugged in thing actually does, and how to send signals to it to make it work.

I know what drivers are, and there are none for my headset, it's plug and play. The sound works, I can hear music and voice through the headset, but its just the mic that doesnt work. It says its active in the recording tab, it just won't pick up my voice when I talk.

Okay remember I have no idea of your skill level I have to check everything :)
The buzzing made it sound like some of the audio is getting into the mic and some of the mic power is getting into the headphones. :/  Does the heatset come with two plugs one for the mic and one for the speakers? Maybe try plugging it into a different mic port like the back plate mic port.

look in windows sound device manager. make sure if your using onboard sound that the main audio device is realteck speakers...that will tell windows to use the sound card mic port. the other sound card that should pop up is the razor one. if under sound devices there nvidia or amd hdmi then that your issue there.

It comes with 5 plugs and a USB port, 3 for surround, 1 audio out and 1 mic in. they are all plugged in to their right jacks on the back of the motherboard. I also tried plugging the mic and main output into the front jacks and it still didn't work.
The only thing enabled is my headset mic and headset output. :)
