Sorry for asking a stupid question, i just wanted to know whether the size of graphic card make a difference. For example I have graphic card ATI-Radaeon HD5450 (1 GB) . I saw a new graphic card on Flipkart which is the same ATI-Radaeon HD 5450 but (2GB) . The price is almost same. So does then extra 1 gb make a difference in performance?

If the type of ram is different, then it will make a difference. What I mean by this is if one card has DDR3 ram while another one has GDDR5 ram. Always go for the one with GDDR5 ram if the price is close. Also, for the level of card you are buying, there is no difference between having 1gb or 2gb of vram.

The vram ussage of a card depends mainly on the resolution and the filters you are using.

When you reach the limit of the vram you get a severe drop in performance (you will need to swap textures and things like that with the main memory) but if you are within the limits of the available vram you will not get a improvement.

With a low main steam card like a 5450 and a normal resolution like 1080p with 1Gb you will be limited by the power of the gpu before you have enought power to use complex filters/higer resolutions and reach the memory cap.

the other places vram come into play is in games...the game can frame buffer the cut shots...the more video ram the more the game can buffer so it does not slow the game down do to swapping data back and forth.
