I have an old laptop that has finally died. The MoBo died and is not worth repairing. The HDD was manufactured in Feb 2001 and is an ATA - not a Serial ATA (SATA). I'm looking for a USB adapter but all I can find is the 7+15 for SATA HDDs and nothing for a 43 PIN ATA.

Anyone got an idea or a recommended kit I could find online for purchase?

Thanks!

Sorry it took so long to see your response. Tidy was not a factor as I only wished to pull off files and get rid of this ancient item. I found an adapter that is USB powered and marries to the pins on the ATA HDD. Cost 8€ on Ebay. Removed files, so all is well.

Thanks for the offer of advice. I have a new issue, so I might consider the enclosure idea.
