If you go for either processor, you'll also need to buy a new motherboard. A Sandy or Ivy Bridge Intel processor would eliminate that, and considering the performance difference between Sandy, Ivy and Haswell is pretty nominal for gaming, I'd look into getting a previous-gen processor.

The i5 would definitely get my vote, but like I said, you won't be worse off buying a Sandy or Ivy Bridge processor.

Grab the best Intel chip available for your board at the moment. If you're planning on playing on higher resolutions, you may want to consider a new GPU, however if you do not then stick with the 260X.

Honestly, though, given your current resolution you're unlikely to see much benefit. I would wager that the G2020 and 260X probably have little trouble running almost anything at such a low rez.

In my tests, the i5 and i7 didn't offer much more performance over the 8320 FX. In many the i5 fell far behind and in most the i7 only offered 5 more fps over the 8320 FX. That was between the i5 4690k, i7 4770k, and of course the 8320. Most AAA titles coming out now can use up to 8 threads (Theif, Watchdogs, Crysis 3(a bit dated now), Battlefield 4, and The Evil Within are just a few examples).

Other than that, Montblanchill is correct. At these resolutions the 8320 is going to be your best bet, due to the lower cost of motherboard and CPU combo's. Matter of fact, my recommendation would be the 6300FX series of 6 core CPU's from AMD. Even then if may be overkill, so you could still go with and i3 CPU.

I would like to note I am not a particular fan of either company. I definitely prefer Intel over AMD but that's due to the fact I do 3-D modeling and Unity Engine editing for indie games. Meaning I get the most out of hyper-threading. I also game at 1080p resolutions and soon will be upgrading to a 1440p display. For strictly gaming, unless your an enthusiast or some kind of Otaku, I generally build with AMD due to lower cost for performance. Granted they run hotter, you can make up for that with a decent cooler like the Hyper 212 Evo.

Unfortunately, You will have to change your Motherboard out for the two processors you have shown here. Just a quick warning for you.

The Core i5 is a Great Choice for gaming. Despite its 3.2 Ghz clock speed, This Quad-Core CPU will be able to run a lot of games no problem at your resolution. And At Less than $200, It's a cheap, simple, and straightforward choice for a Gaming CPU.

However, The FX-8320 Is the best bang for the buck. It is an 8-Core Processor, Clocks at 3.5 Ghz, and can be overclocked if you want, making it the perfect choice for both Gaming and Multitasking. Best of all, at $140, It's the best Price/Performance processor out there you can buy.

Overall, The Choice is up to you. Personally, the FX-8320 is better choice for your money, but Both CPU's will improve your gaming experience massively.
