MBR is old school. Now its GPT - 2 master records now instead of one. That's the way to go.

Hey there DriggyBoy,

The main difference between MBR (Master Boot Record) and GPT (GUID Partition Table) comes from the different formatting of larger sizes of new drives (over 2TB - 4k vs 512-byte sectors). A drive over 2TB won't be fully recognized unless it's formatted as GPT. Also, GPT format is not supported by older OSs (read/write or boot). Here's a list of Windows's OS that supports GPT for read/write and boot for bot 32-bit and 64-bit versions:

As @i7Baby pointed out, GPT does offer some benefits, as long as your OS can use that particular format. I would also advise you, if you can, use GPT.

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.
