I built my computer last month with no problems at all, however after a few days sometimes the computer would not boot up correctly i.e. the fans are spinning, the cpu cooler has its light on, disk drive works, however the screen does not detect an image.

When I look at my motherboard I see a red light next to my GPU, sometimes just restarting the computer works, other times I need to press both the power cables in and the connection to the motherboard in and then restart. Although the power cables dont seem to go any further onto the slot.

The GPU is locked into the PCI slot (the latch is closed) and ive tried both the MOLEX adapter (which came with the GPU) and regular 6+2 cables for the power and neither seem to make a difference. I originally had a 500W PSU which was the suggest size from PCpartpicker, however upgraded it to 750W but it didnt help

Specs:
Asus Z97-A
Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB
i7-4790k
Corsair 750W PSU
16gb RAM

Any ideas how to fix this?

Make sure your GPU power cables are attached securely, and that there is no strain causing cable creep. Barring that, you may have a short in your PSU cables, if that is a modular PSU, try a different set of PCIE cables. If it's not modular, see if you can try a different PSU.

As i said, ive have tried two differnt PSU's and two different types of cable in each so overall 4 different cables, none of them seem to make a difference.

See if everything works without the GPU plugged in. If it does, then you may need to RMA your GPU.
