Cpu is I7-4790k. I have the money to afford the 980, but the money saved on the 970 will NOT go back into the system (as the rest of the spec is fine).

So which one would you recommend? (Only want the graphics card, don't tell me about which design to go for)

depends... if you plan on staying 1080p for some time then by all means 970 should be plenty enough, but if you plan on going higher than that go for 980, personally f i had the money i would go 980

You should have made a poll and given your gaming requirements, aka resolution and graphics settings.. I'm voting 970 to save you the money, 980 for smooth ultra gaming... lol

Yeah what the others said, basically if FullHD gaming is enough for you then 970 if not, say you are looking at 4K or just want a more futureproof system then 980. However the 970 is so well priced it's a much bigger bang for your buck.

Buy a 970. And later buy another 970. This way is better.

But if you want to go for the 4k then 980 is your best choice.

Just some tip. If u want to overclock your graphics card i suggest you should buy the msi series. Its much easier to overclock.
