Hi,
I'm looking into upgrading my current DDR3 (1x4gb) stick of RAM for (2x4gb) dual sticks of ram. I haven't purchased the ram yet, any recommendations on what I should purchase. Also, let's say I have purchased my ram installed it into my pc, what will happen when I boot up my PC? Will it just boot up as normal or will I have to do an install of something. I will be also installing a new CPU at the same time as upgrading my RAM if that changes anything. Thanks

The exact same model with same specs as the current one, from the same brand of course. That is because you may face compatibility issues with any other model with different Voltage/ speed/ timings/ brand/ etc.
And no, the sticks will be accommodated automatically, usually.

RAM sticks doesn't have any wires/pins, they're just installed. But as far as CPU upgradation is concerned, we need the model & make of CPU, Mobo and the RAM stick.
