Hi there,

1) weak GPU for this kind of CPU.
2) PSU is poor, choose another one (Seasonic, XFX, Corsair (not CX, VS series)

Other parts are good.

Have a nice day

I really don't have any preference, seeing super high detail isn't a big concern. I guess if I had to say though, I'm looking for at least the quality of an Xbox 360.

What is your budget? I would try to offer you more balanced build.

Any recommendations for a better PSU? Also, a better GPU without spending too much more than the cost of the one I chose? I planned on upgrading later just trying to keep it under a $1000.

The PSU is weak. Get a good one by referring to this:

I don't know that how an XBOX 360 gaming looks like. But here are the benchmarks (in FPS) for GTX 750 Ti reference model. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1130

There you go mate. Cpu is not overclockable but it's still an i5 processor which is decent for gaming. For the GPU you've got a real beast here (go and search some reviews). Thats a well balanced gaming rig that would allow you to play on the highest settings in most of modern games.

With your budget, start with a non K i5 CPU and maximize your GPU.

I originally chose the i5-4570 CPU but changed it because I read that you could overclock the i5-4690k, but someone on here just said it cannot be overclocked.

The build you asked in the question is perfect except for the GPU and PSU. I could recommend a PSU right away, but the PSU selection depends on the GPU and budget.

Here's the link, sorry I accidentally made it private and I'm sending this from my phone so it won't let me quote you. I changed some things up with the recommendations that two members replied with. Let me know what you think with this build compared to my first please. Thanks.

I have intentions of upgrading the GPU and RAM later, for now I'm just trying to get a build that's not super expensive and is gonna allow me to play most of the current games on at least medium settings.

Nice build there. But few things to note.
1) Don't buy the after market cooler for "non-k" CPU. Save that money. After market coolers are very much better than stock CPU cooler, but you can buy that later if your CPU reaches high temps on full load, otherwise it'll be a waste of money.
2) Upgrading GPU in near future? Buy a PSU of even higher wattage than the current requirement. Else, you've to upgrade PSU again too. (Don't have to upgrade when you're buying GTX 970 or 980 because their requirement is less than 520 W)

And the GTX 750 Ti will play up to your requirements.

Yeah I'm definitely gonna upgrade the GPU eventually, and I'll drop the fan, thanks for the info. Can you recommend a PSU? Thanks for all your help.

Can you go for a Asus Strix GTX 970 for about 350$ in future? Because it saves you money for current PSU purchase and performs almost equal to R9 290x with significantly less heat, less noise and lesser power consumption.

If okay, the perfect PSU even for overclocking:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-s12g...

If sticking with R9 290x, you would probably have to go for 650-700 W PSU.

Yeah I could definitely do that. Thanks for the recommending that GPU. I did find this for $20 more, you think that would be better or stick with the PSU you recommended?

Corsair CXM series are not recommended for overclocking systems. Seasonic units are the most preferred Power supply units on the planet. You can also get 600W PSU if you find it affordable.

Good. Aftermarket CPU coolers are needed the most when the CPU is overclocked and that's a strong budget PSU..
