When installing my cooler I had to put it on take it off and back on again because I had issues with the screws on it. so im not sure that the pre-applied thermal paste was compromised. When playing shadow of mordor It goes up to 65-68C. Should I re-apply thermal paste or is this ok. No over-clocking btw running at 4.0ghz.

p.s. when idle HWmonitor temps keep bouncing from 26 to 33 is that normal?

Yes temps are ok at idle maybe a bit high when gaming. I suggest taking the cooler off, using some 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean off old thermal paste from CPU and cooler, then reapply some Arctic Cooling MX-4 compound (a very very good paste).

I have an 8350 @ 4.6 ghz with a Corsair H100 AIO watercooler. I hover between 25c and 33c on idle and can get up in the 50s on full load. You are right where you should be friend.

Thank you very much for both of your very quick answers. I picked up a cooler master E1 thermal paste (the only i could get hold of today) but then i investigated further and the temperature I posted were of the socket. I think that the core temp is the one that matters right? My core temps are 28/30 idle and 50-56 underload. I think these are fine so im thinking that for now I shouldnt do anything. What do you guys think.

Thank you once again.
