Here's a video to show you the problem I'm having: http://1drv.ms/1u0AeYj

A few years ago my laptop just suddenly stopped working and this problem emerged. I had a bunch of pictures and important data that was stored on the hard-drive, and it never occurred to me until now that I may be able to use the power of the internet to fix it (Or at the very least be able to dig through the data on the hdd). I have no idea how it happened and hope that someone out there has the knowledge to help me. (I'll be prepared to take more pictures if you need more information about the laptop)

Thanks in advanced!

If nothing else, the hard drive can be removed and read with an external adapter (your data can be retrieved) like the VANTEC IDE/SATAIII to USB 3.0 Adapter and USB 2.0 can be found cheaper. The most likely problem is that the video card has failed (it may be repairable but probably not inexpensively). If you have not tried connecting to an external monitor, I'll suggest doing that (although I expect the same outcome personally) just to ensure it is the video card and not a loose wire in the laptop or something along those lines.
