Hello!

I recently purchased a new processor for my Gateway Profile 6 All In One computer.

Before purchasing it I did some research and came across a post on this forum regarding the need to update your BIOS to P06 or higher.

I have looked everywhere for the last 3 weeks and still cannot find anything above a P03.

Does anyone have any idea where I could possibly find one of these BIOS upgrades without paying a 30 dollar fee hoping Bios Agent has what I need?

The original Thread was here...

And the post I am referencing is...

From a Gateway Profile 6 Expert Owner.

I see you have motherboard revision A2 and BIOS P06.945G. Your motherboard will support Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe processors up to the E6700 which is clocked at 2.66 Ghz. A huge step up from the Pentium D. As for the video card, the riser card in the back and the limited dimensions of the Profile 6 are major constraints as to what you can put in there. I currently have an EVGA 9500GT 1GB and it fits nicely. Not the most powerful card but will do most games at low / medium settings. Also the 270 watt power supply limits your choice on components. Switching to a Core 2 Duo will most likely drop the power consumption of the processor down. My Profile 6 on full load will hit a maximum of about 150 watts. Normal Idle consumption is around 110 - 120 Watts. For a memory upgrade, a maximum of 2gb is supported.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I was finally able to update the BIOS to p10 but I am still unable to boot.

Here is the processor...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU SL9ZF 2.66 GHz 4M/1066 C2D Conroe C2D

Here is the motherboard

Genuine OEM Gateway Profile 6 Motherboard Logic Board 05132-1M Tested XLNT!

Again to reference the original post, Your motherboard will support Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe processors up to the E6700.

My Profile 6 successfully applied the P10 BIOS but when you turn the machine on with the new processor it only spins up the Hard Drives, no monitor, no cpu, nothing but the HDDs.

I'm about to give up on this upgrade but would be happy with some advice if I missed something.
