Just installed my new gigabyte gtx 970 and after that I ran the windows aero and my ssd only scored 5.9 down from like 7.8. it also took about 25 seconds to get to the screen saver after I entered my password as well. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on?

Update your motherboard BIOS. Install the latest GPU drivers, not the ones that came with the GPU. Check you SSD manufacturers website for firmware updates.
What is the brand and model number of your PSU? Maybe you're underpowered now and suffering a lack of performance due to that.
Try resetting BIOS to optimal settings.
