SSD Boss quotes 9.3sec boot time for windows 7, yet I've timed mine at 15sec - 60% slower.

Is there settings somewhere I need to change to speed things up, or is there something else I'm not considering?

I started the timer when I hit the power button, and stopped it when the login screen shows.

your last sentence is the reason why. you are counting post and initialization time. Start the timer when the screen switches over to start the windows logo screen. this is when the OS actually starts initializing. your times will be much closer.

EDIT: for clarification start the time right after the motherboard splash screen disappears. This is when the OS actually starts to boot. If you start the timer like you are you are adding in the motherboard boot time also, not just the OS.
