my old comp died on my, luckily it wasnt the HDD! fixing the old computer would cost half the price of a new build so i decided to just rebuild my computer with up-to-date components (my previous computer was a pre-built). the HDD has windows vista on it but i want to install a 1tb hdd and 120gb ssd. can i hook up the old HDD and extract the files that i want....theres way too much music to just give up on, as well as pictures and videos and some important files. how can i get a hold of them?

If you don't want to put the drive in your computer you can get an external drive enclosure, docking station, or a SATA to USB cable (if the drive is a SATA drive) and connect it to the computer to retrieve the files. Remember to install the OS on the SSD before connecting the 1TB drive.
