is the reference gtx 970 still good ?

i am possible getting a pc built and it come with the nvidia made gtx 970. i know they are good howvever things like the strix and msi have good features like better cooling and so on.
do you guys think the nvidia made is worth it as well ?

The reference design is pretty good, especially in the case of the 9xx series, as the cards are based on Maxwell, and they don't consume a lot of power and they also don't emit a lot of heat. Some even say the reference design allows for equal or better overclocking then the aftermarket ones. These cards would be the one I'd get if you want reference:

The second reference card is clocked higher than the first, but be prepared to pay 20$ more to get it. If you want aftermarket, which I'd recommend, here's what I'd get:

I would actually get the Strix, but unfortunately, it didn't appear in PCPartPicker.
